We arrived in Bar Harbor last night after a 3-hour drive from Portland. Today we visited the Bar Harbor Bike Shop and picked up my bike. After a couple trips back for minor adjustments and some additional supplies, the bike is now ready for action and the plan is to leave tomorrow morning. Trudi will drive to meet me sometime later in the day and over the next few days, plans to follow the route and see how I’m doing.
We are staying at the Port Inn in Bar Harbor until tomorrow. Bar Harbor is a popular tourist destination next to the Acadia National Park. Even though it has been 60 degrees and rather foggy/rainy the past couple days, there are quite a few folks walking around. It appears people are returning to pre-pandemic travel, but the local hospitality industry is having trouble keeping up with the demand for services, as witnessed by this sign in the hotel lobby:
